UK game developer and publisher and now also device manufacturer, Elite Systems, to celebrate its own 30th Anniversary (1984-2014) on 14th August by placing an order for the recreated 'Sinclair ZX Spectrum'. The order will mark the first occasion that any device, in the form factor of the 'Sinclair ZX Spectrum', has been manufactured since production of the original device was discontinued in 1990. 14th August, 2014 will be the 30th Anniversary of the founding of UK game developer and publisher and now also device manufacturer, Elite Systems. To coincide with its own anniversary the company will place an order for the recreated 'Sinclair ZX Spectrum', a classic game controller and Bluetooth keyboard in the form factor of the original 'Sinclair ZX Spectrum', a personal computer created by Sinclair Research in 1982. The original 'Sinclair ZX Spectrum' was created by Sinclair Research in 1982 and sold in excess of 5 million units, the effects of which are still seen today. Some credit it as the device which launched the UK IT industry. The recreated 'Sinclair ZX Spectrum' (formerly known as the �Bluetooth ZX Spectrum�) was funded (to the tune of some $100,000) by a Kickstarter campaign in early 2014. The company estimates that the order, which is for the first physical proto-type of the recreated 'Sinclair ZX Spectrum', will be fulfilled in about 8 weeks and that the world-wide unveiling of the recreated device will take place at an event in the UK in September or October of this year. Following the world-wide unveiling the company will open its order book for a short period, anticipated to be not more than a few weeks, during which would-be owners of the recreated 'Sinclair ZX Spectrum' will be able to order it online. The manufacture and delivery of production units of the recreated device is expected to take not more than 90 days and only those who ordered it in the short period during which the company's order book is open will receive* the recreated 'Sinclair ZX Spectrum'. The recreated 'Sinclair ZX Spectrum' will not be available in the shops and the fulfilment of orders received after the company's order book is closed is unlikely to occur until the Spring of 2015. *: exceptionally, those backers of the company's Kickstarter campaign who selected the recreated device as a reward will receive a special 'Founders' Edition' at the same time.
