PAPERBOY Heading Back To the Top!

After Almost 20 Years, the reaction to this Midway classic has been quite exceptional!

Almost 20 years after heading the UK full-price games sales charts for a record breaking 3 month period the Midway (and formerly Atari Games Corporation) arcade classic �Paperboy�� looks set for return to the top of the charts, this time as a mobile phone game, courtesy of veteran British game developer and now mobile phone game publisher Elite. Paperboy� - in which you play a bike riding, baseball cap-wearing, freckle-faced newspaper delivery boy - first ventured outside of the arcades and into European homes when it was developed and published under licence by Elite as a Sinclair ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 computer game in 1986. In the months and years that followed its European release for 8 and 16 bit home computer systems, �Paperboy� clocked up approaching 1 million unit sales - making it one of the best-selling home computer games of the decade. The mobile phone game is slated for release in Europe from week commencing 6th June and has already been selected for distribution by a number of top performing network operators including Spain�s favorite Telefonica and Britain�s O2. Speaking about his expectations for the mobile phone game versions of Paperboy� Elite Managing Director, Steve Wilcox said: �We�ve been trailing the impending release of Paperboy� with our mobile network operator clients for some time and the reaction to the Midway classic has been quite exceptional.
