the Manic Miner® app - Statement by Elite Systems Ltd
“Manic Miner - originally a game for the ZX Spectrum home computer - could and should have become the British Mario."
The words of Tom Stanhope, the independent documentary maker who conducted extensive, filmed interviews with the author of the ZX Spectrum game, on two separate occasions between November 2012 and March 2013.
Tom’s sentiments are shared by thousands of other fans of the benchmark game, including all of us at Elite - the UK’s oldest continually operating developer and publisher of computer and video games.
With this in mind, in 2017, Elite entered into a long term, exclusive licence agreement with the game’s copyright owner and began developing a range of complimentary, derivative products including but not limited to games and apps, playing cards and board games with the aim of re-establishing awareness and further enhancing the reputation of Manic Miner.
