A little over 30 years after the launch of the venerable home computer, Elite Systems, the long established UK based developer and electronic publisher of games for portable, mobile and other devices, has confirmed that the Sinclair ZX Spectrum has now got its own QR Codes.

Elite’s MD, Steve Wilcox noted, “... the Sinclair ZX Spectrum is an 8-bit home computer which was released in the UK in 1982 by Sinclair Research Ltd and which sold in excess of 5 million units worldwide. Thirty years on, it continues to have a passionate following amongst 30-something men, both in Britain and beyond. Indeed, as recently as May this year - as a result of single post by a member of UK blog-site hotdealsuk.com - some £10,000-worth of ZX Spectrum games were sold via Apple’s iTunes App Store in a period of little more than 72 hours. This happened despite production of the venerable home computer having been discontinued by its then owner, Mr (now Lord) Alan Sugar, some 20 years earlier.”

“We’re releasing the QR Codes not only to again raise awareness of the free versions of the iPhone and iPad apps but also to say to marketers, ‘work with us, create communications, campaigns and custom versions of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum apps and share them with this tech-savvy and passionate audience.’”
