We're pleased to announce:
The book (and associated merchandise) is to be published on Elite’s 40th anniversary on 14th Aug 2024, or as soon after as we're able to.
A lot of what Elite achieved:
- introducing the “Offically Licenced Arcade Game” business-model to Europe
- half a dozen #1 selling games in the UK and elsewhere
- being awarded ‘Software House Of The Year” in a public vote
- ‘discovering’ and popularising the work of some amazing talent
was achieved in its first 40 months
The book’s working title is:
ELITE
40 Months That Shaped 40 Years 1984 - 2024
It will be midi-opus format (32cm x 32cm)
It will feature circa 75 digitally re-mastered illustrations created from the original pack / art
Illustrations that were originally published as A3 Landscape images straddle two pages
(The first of the images below refers.)
Illustrations that were originally published as A4 Portrait images fit one page
Individual ‘editorial’ contributions will be invited from all those associated with the circa 75 games
Contributors will be encouraged to share not only their contemporaneous stories but also to talk about their life in the decades that followed
- hence 40 months that shaped 40 years
