Dated: Fourth Batch of ‘Elite Collection’ of 8-bit Home Computer Games

- for Apple iPhone / iPod Touch & iPad

Date: December 2011

Elite Systems, the long established UK based developer and electronic publisher of games for portable, mobile and other devices has confirmed the identity, release date and pricing of the next two games which will be added to the ‘Elite Collection’ of stand-alone iOS Apps. The games are: (from the US) - “Bruce Lee” (the much lauded platform / beat \'em up, published by Datasoft in 1984) (from the UK) - “Emlyn Hughes International Soccer” (the acclaimed soccer game, published by Audiogenic in 1988) Bruce Lee is a video game designed by Ron J. Fortier, with graphics by Kelly Day and music by John A. Fitzpatrick. The game was a “#1-selling US Hit” following its initial release in 1984. Emlyn Hughes International Soccer was programmed by Graham Blighe with additional coding by Michael McLean. Gameplay included arcade-style action and the management aspect of the sport. The game was a “#1-selling UK Hit” following its initial release in 1988. Initially the Apps will be priced at £1.49 (Euro1.59 US$1.99) and will be launched worldwide during the weekend of 9th Dec., 2011. More games, which will be added to the range after Xmas, will be announced shortly. Regarding the re-scheduled release date of the ‘Elite Collection’ and ‘Elite Collection HD’ iOS Apps, which will include both twelve bundled 8-bit home computer games and an in-app ‘Shop’ (offering a further sixteen games, including “Bruce Lee” for purchase), the company confirmed that a revised initial track list has finalised and that the Apps will be launched during the weekend of 16th Dec. 2011 - EXCEPT IN THE AMERICAS. Commenting upon the launch plans, Elite’s MD Steve Wilcox said, “The launch of the Apps in the Americas will take place a little later, most likely in mid-to-late January. We’ve been offered some truly-classic, 80s, American, 8-bit home computer games for inclusion in the in-app ‘Shop’ and we need a little more time to ensure that the work required to get them ready is completed.” To locate the Apps, just search for “8-bit” (or “8 bit”) at the iTunes App Store Update: during the same December weekend, Elite will also be “Bruce Lee: ZX Spectrum” for Apple iPhone / iPod Touch and iPad. About the ‘Elite Collection’: the launch of the ‘Elite Collection’ of 8-bit home computer games, as stand-alone iOS Apps, has been made possible as a result of recent advances in Elite’s proprietary technology. Elite’s proprietary technology, is called a “facilitator” - since it doesn’t incorporate, reference or in any other way rely upon third-party property, including but not limited to third-party trademark, copyright, patent, trade-dress or good will - yet it makes it possible for games originally devised for one platform to be played on another with the minimum of costly and time consuming porting, or other forms of re-engineering *: some games require iOS device support for OpenGL ES 2.0 Elite expect the range to grow quickly, to include dozens and eventually hundreds of 8-bit home computer games - all in their near-100% original form. A unique feature of the Apps is Elite’s much-vaunted iDaptive Controls (i.e. user-definable, game-specific joystick, keypad & canvass controls), an instructional video for which can be found by Googling “Tiny URL 22qh8hl” and here: http://tinyurl.com/22qh8hl Other features of all of the Apps include: - ‘auto save’ on exiting any game - a separate cheat version, where appropriate.
